Immigration Department Announced Services to Resume in Stages

Pursuant the announcement of Conditional MCO by the Prime Minister yesterday, the Corporate Communications Unit of the Malaysian Immigration Department issued a statement that its safety and passport division would resume operations on Monday (May 4th, 2020).

While the Visa, Passes and Permits Division, Expatriate Services Division (ESD) and its Foreign Workers Division will open next Wednesday (May 6th, 2020). Lastly, the Operations, Investigation and Prosecution Division will reopen on May 13th, 2020.

The statement further reads that ….

  • Only customers with earlier appointments are allowed to come for any arrangements, but those who want to apply for an international passport will not require an appointment.
  • The public are urged to check the official website at www.imi.gov.my and its official Facebook page for the latest information on how to make an appointment with the Immigration Department.

At the time of writing, we have yet to understand the workings of how an appointment can be made.
