Immigration Department announced assistance to Chinese tourists stranded in Malaysia

The Malaysian Immigration Department has further extended assistance to China nationals in Malaysia during this dreaded period. The Immigration director-general Datuk Khairul Dzaimee Daud announced that effective from 27th January 2020, Chinese tourists in Malaysia with health issues or who have failed to get on flights out of the country will each be issued with a special pass.

However, there are conditions to be met. We have summarised below for ease of understanding:

  • Validation letter by the Chinese Embassy:
Get in touch with the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia to get to know what are the procedures to be issued with a validation letter
  • Valid flight ticket:
The individual must possess a valid flight ticket during the application of the special pass showing the departure date from Malaysia.
  • 14- or 30-days Special Pass:
Successful individual may be granted with a 14 days or 30 days special pass depending on the flight departure date.
  • Not all is granted:
Do take note that the special passes are NOT granted to all Chinese nationals/tourist.

We urge our Chinese national readers to reach out to their embassy, if they are stranded or facing visa issues. We certainly hope this has been informative. Stay safe everyone!
